Dr Annamaria Mills
Annamaria has a PhD in Plant Science from Lincoln University. She is a plant physiologist and works within the Dryland Pastures Research team, researching rain-fed pastoral systems where water stress reduces the quantity and quality of feed available to grazing livestock in most years. Her papers on dryland legume selection have been published in national and international agricultural research journals.
“My work for the High Country Futures project will help farmers select legumes best suited to their farm’s environment by evaluating pastures for liveweight production, yield and persistence of the sown sward components. This will form the basis of species and management recommendations for resilient, profitable and robust farming systems, better suited for predicted climate change scenarios.”
